Sojourns In The Wild
The Kenya Edition

AN EVENING WITH GUSTAV W. VERDERBER - AUTHOR, NATURALIST, NATURE PHOTOGRAPHER, AND RACONTEUR.

"...a superb piece - one I hope is shown frequently throughout the region."
William H. Meadows, President, The Wilderness Society

"I was blown away. I have seen slide programs by Wolfe, and Lanting, and Mangelsen; Gustav's program, in its entirety, was as good as any that I have seen. The photography was excellent, especially the incredibly varied close-ups, and the accompanying music, by noted Celtic harpist, William Jackson, was a perfect fit."
Arthur Morris, Birds As Art
BBC Wildlife Photographer of The Year

Olive Baboon YawningCome autumn of 2007, a brand new digital production of Sojourns In the Wild will begin touring camera clubs, museums, galleries, campuses, and nature centers. An exciting new digital version of the acclaimed multimedia presentation that has awed audiences across the country, from the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, Vermont to the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs in Pacific Grove, California will feature not only the award-winning images of Gustav W. Verderber and Robert Servranckx, but will include compelling stories from the field, a question and answer session, and an entertaining, tongue-in-cheek 12-step outline to becoming a successful, globe-trotting nature photographer. Moreover, the engagement will also include a half-day seminar. The host of the program will have the opportunity to choose the seminar topic from a broad range of subjects.

This new digital production will once again be accompanied by the compositions of world-renowned Celtic harpist, William Jackson. William's lyrical and mesmerizing compositions lend themselves superbly to the images. The whole effect is as though you, not the images, are moving through space and time to visit the most magnificent and pristine natural areas on Earth including The Great Northern Forest, the Maine coast, Alaska, the Galapagos Islands, Amazonia, Yellowstone, and Kenya. William, who is also the composer of Scotland's new national anthem and who frequently performs on Fiona Ritchie’s NPR program, The Thistle & Shamrock, sometimes joins me for live performances.

Also accompanying the images will be composer Jett Hitt’s Yellowstone Concerto.

Additional Reviews

"Anyone who was fortunate enough to attend Gustav's magnificent multimedia presentation, "Sojourns In the Wild - The Yellowstone Edition", was witness to a spell binding show. His images from Yellowstone are nothing less than breath-taking. Gustav has been able to capture images with beautiful lighting and masterful storytelling which kept the audience captivated all evening. Gustav's show also includes images from Alaska, The Great North Woods, the coast of Maine, the Galapagos Islands, as well as the Amazon rain forest. The accompanying original musical sound track is hauntingly beautiful and a fitting compliment to his imagery. Gustav's love affair with nature is very apparent in his work. It was a completely enjoyable evening and I look forward to seeing more of his beautiful nature images in the future."

"It was a pleasure to view your work in person, as well as browsing your website this morning. The nature settings are simply breath taking. In particular, I was curious to hear how you were able to take the pic of "Vermont's Top Guns."

Of the many things we saw and learned throughout our weekend of visiting Smuggler's Notch, the interaction with you stuck with us the most. To learn of your background and various places of travel, and to experience your passion for nature was truly interesting.

However, just as impressive was your choice to commit Amanda's and my name to memory. It is very rare to meet someone new in a "passing by" encounter, and have them retain much of the conversation at all. You left an impression on us indeed."

Thank you for your kindness, and sharing a part of your story.

Best of luck Gustav,"
