Fall Foliage Magical Mystery TourLandscape Photography at the Peak of Vermont's Fall SplendorDates: October 5-9, 2008
Cost: $595.00 Booking Deadline: August 5, 2008 Abstract: New England’s brilliant autumn display attracts professional photographers from all over the world. Peak color, however, is ephemeral, and one doesn’t have much time to scout for the best locations. Therefore, let me take you to some of my favorite spots to photograph the colorful mountains, forests, and the resplendent rivers, waterfalls, and reflections. These include sites that rank among the most photogenic locations in all of New England! Along the way, I will share with you all the professional techniques that have enabled me to produce my published, award-winning gallery images of New England’s splendid autumns. Northern Vermont is also my home ground and is teeming with subjects from moose to carnivorous plants. We will spend some time hunting moose and stalking pitcher plants in nearby Belvidere Bog. Moreover, I know of some stunning locations that have not been discovered by hordes of other nature photographers. Following the Vermont leg of the tour, we’ll travel 2.5 hrs. to New Hampshire’s White Mountains and spend two full days working in one of New England’s most outstanding fall foliage locations. Itinerary Sunday, October 5 Arrive at Lakeview Campground by 5:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., we’ll head over to Belvidere Pond for some evening color, sunset, and perhaps a moose. Afterward, become acquainted over dinner. Relax and enjoy each other’s company for the remainder of the evening. D(1) Monday, October 6All day in the field beginning with an early start to catch sunrise at Belvidere Pond and, if we’re lucky, moose in early morning light. (We did get some very nice images of a bull and a cow during the 2000 workshop.) After sunrise, we’ll head into Stowe to photograph spectacular Moss Glen Falls then return to Lakeview campground for lunch. After lunch, more waterfalls, forest tapestries, covered bridges….until we lose the light in time for dinner. B, L, D Tuesday, October 7 We begin the day like the day before, at Belvidere Pond. Then we venture into Belvidere Bog to photograph carnivorous plants including sundews and pitcher plants. Returning to Lakeview campground in time for lunch. After lunch, we pack up and leave for New Hampshire’s White Mountains arriving in Lincoln in time for dinner. (Meals in New Hampshire are on our own, that is, we typically eat as a group at affordable restaurants but we pay for our meals individually.) Overnight at the Parker’s Motel. B, L Wednesday, October 8 The Kancamagus Highway ranks among the most magnificent fall foliage drives in New England. The locations that I have mapped along the Swift River which runs alongside the “Kanc” offer the most dazzling reflection images I have ever photographed! There are also several stunning waterfalls along the way to occupy us when the light isn’t appropriate for reflections. Overnight at the Parker’s Motel. Thursday, October 9 Another full day in the field working fall color in the White Mountains until dinner. Overnight at the Parker’s Motel and dismiss after breakfast the following day. Notes (1) B = breakfast, L = lunch, D = dinner Price includes: accommodations (double occupancy), meals as indicated above, instruction and guide services. Price excludes: meals where indicated and items of a personal nature such as souvenirs, alcohol, or telephone. Participants provide their own local transportation. Interested?
